show at SCRAP- "A Sufficiently Advanced Technology"

I've got a show opening this First Thursday, 7/1/10, in the re:Vision Gallery in Portland. "A Sufficiently Advanced Technology" combines high tech and natural materials to make the working tools of the post-apocalyptic info-shaman. The title comes from a quote from scientist and science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

A
lso being shown are the "Demon Modules," torn from the charred underbelly of God's Own Motherboard.

Join us for the reception on Thursday, 7/1 from 6 to 8 p.m. The show runs the end of August at SCRAP, 2915 NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in Portland.

Stalker, Close to the Edge

I've always liked her. To me, she's always just on the edge of hysteria, running away from something. Or someone.

All She Surveys

This is from the first batch of ghosts. It looks to me like she's standing atop the factory she just inherited from her industrialist father, contemplating the responsibility just dropped on her.

boomboxtree

Walking home from Bill & Cindy's last night, I saw this poor abandoned boombox. There's a short story in there, at least.

bird watching

We have these huge black birds in Portland; crows or ravens or something. This morning I saw the shadow of something big and black swoop by the kitchen window. My first thought was "Mynochs."

Going mobile

Trying out this ipod Touch blogging tool. It works but it sure is putsy to type on this thing. Still, good to know.

Guns

Duracoat_hotpinkprincess_111409.jpg

Try Jim's Gun Supply for all your colorful gun needs! It starts getting weird about halfway down the page. Sadly, they don't actually sell these guns (these are photos of some of their custom work), but they will colorize your weapon however you want. They have a whole section of just pink guns and accessories!

It seems like I recall there being a law now that toy guns, water pistols, etc. cannot be colored like real guns (or maybe that was a reaction from the toy weapons industry). I don't suppose there's a law that says real weapons can't look like toys, is there?

Librarians RAWK!

This may not be a Lady Gaga song, but it should be.

a new toy

Having a new blog is a good excuse to try out new software. This is being posted with Blog Entry Poster from my Ubuntu laptop. It's a pretty bare-bones interface, and a decidedly unimaginative app name, but it's easy to configure (at least for Blogger) and easy to use. Doesn't seem to be a way to add a photo, though. Too bad. Shall we post, then? Yes...

Blessed are the Air-Cooled

Once more, with feeling

This is the third time I've tried a blog. I'm not much for public speaking, so I always have a hard time shouting out my thoughts and opinions to the void that is the Internet. But I suppose I need something else to do when sitting in the ubiquitous coffee shops in PDX than surf the web and write porn, so I'll share my random observations with whoever stops by.
